Estriol USP- Bio-identical Natural Estrogen

•   Estriol is not a phyto-estrogen.

Don't confuse phyto-estrogens with pure natural estriol USP. The natural estrogen, estriol USP, is made the same way natural progesterone USP is made. Sterol analogues found in many varieties of plants are combined with specific bacteria and the resulting hormone is bio-identical in chemical structure to the hormone produced by the human body.

"If a three-month trial of progesterone plus proper diet and supplements of magnesium and B6 do not relieve hot flashes or vaginal dryness, then low-dose natural estrogen may be helpful. All the available evidence we have so far indicates that estriol is the safest estrogen to use to control menopausal symptoms, and that it may even be protective against breast cancer. If you need to supplement some estrogen, you can use a natural estrogen in a cream."

"In our country it has been labeled as a weak or ineffective estrogen and difficult if not impossible to obtain. Actually it is not weak if given in adequate doses. A dose of 2 to 4 mg is the equivalent of .6 to 1.25 mg of conjugated estrogen and is just as effective. It has been available in Europe for many years. Importantly, estriol does not lose its unique identity, as does estradiol. It remains estriol. Lemon, reporting on chemically induced rat mammary carcinoma, demonstrated a notable inhibition of mammary carcinogens with estriol therapy compared with therapy using estrone and estradiol. According to an unpublished study by Henry M. Lemon, John F. Foley, and M. Anne Kessinger, 2.5 to 5 mg of estriol, equivalent to a little more than .65 and 1.25 mg of conjugated estrogens were used, with the informed consent of patients, in postmenopausal women with breast carcinoma and metastases. The preliminary investigation was initiated as a trial of the safety and estrogenicity of the hormone in postmenopausal women with breast cancer and not primarily to test its activity as an alternative therapeutic estrogen for breast cancer. Thirty-seven percent receiving this small dosage had remission or arrest of metastatic lesions.

Estriol's anti-cancer effect is thought to be due to its anti-estrone characteristics. It apparently blocks the stimulatory effect of estrone on the breast. Estriol is weaker in that it requires 2 to 4 mg of estriol to equal the effects of 0.6 to 1.25 mg of Premarin. But that is inconsequential when one considers that the more estriol a woman takes, the less likely she gets breast cancer, which is exactly the opposite of the dosage relationships of commonly used estrogens.
 
• Estrogen should be used with Natural Progesterone

According to Dr. Lee, most women become deficient in Progesterone long before Estrogen levels drop to the point of casuing symptoms. To prevent hormone imbalance, Progesterone creme should always be used when using Estriol creme. Progesterone and Estrogen work together to prevent bone loss. Estrogen slows down bone loss (osteoclasts), but progesterone triggers the replacing of the old bone with new bone (osteoblasts).
 
• Why can't I use Progesterone and Estriol together in just one creme?

Progesterone and Estrogen are dosed differently. You use Progesterone on a cyclical basis. If you are premenopausal, you would use progesterone for 2 or 3 weeks out of the month, depending on age. If you are postmenopausal or have had a hysterectomy, you use Progesterone 3 weeks out of the month. Estriol can be used every day or just a few times a week, depending on the amount needed to control symptoms. You can also increase or decrease the dosage as needed of estrogen in response to your symptoms, anywhere from 1-4 mg per day. If the creams are combined in a formula, there is no way to control your dosage.
It is also good to take a week off from using estriol as you do progesterone.

ESTROGEN CREME (Estriol) 2 oz Jar or Pump Bottle
Active Ingredient: 50 mg Micronized Natural Estriol USP
Directions: Start with ¼  teaspoon (1 mg). Use between 1 - 4 mg. Use in conjunction with natural progesterone USP  Add or decrease dose according to symptoms.
Choose skin areas that are relatively thin and well supplied with capillary blood flow Rotate application areas daily.
It is best to give your body a rest from Estriol at the same time that you do progesterone. Use Estriol Crème only on skin, not designed for internal use..
Estriol Oil is available from Naturally Better and may be used intra-vaginally for vaginal dryness or irritation. (made by Natural Radiance)
Please note: If you are within 2 years past menopause, it is possible that your body may respond to estriol the way it did before menopause. It may begin to build up the lining of the uterus as it did each month prior to menopause and need to shed this with a few days of bleeding. This usually does not last too long after menopause. Also, if you do not need any estrogen, it does not make sense to use estriol. If you are in doubt or have no symptoms of estrogen eficiency, you would be better to use only progesterone, since progesterone also acts as as a precurser of estrogen.

Definition of Ingredients:
Vegetable oil blend*: Our oil blend consists of Apricot Kernel, Sunflower, Evening Primrose, Grape seed, Hemp seed, Mandarin Red, Rice Bran, Sweet Almond, Safflower and Vitamin E oils. The blend is formulated to penetrate and protect the skin.
